DMAIC is a data-driven improvement cycle to methodically identify inefficiencies and problem areas, with the goal of improving, optimizing, or stabilizing an existing process.

Determine the optimum values for key contributing process inputs. Implement solutions to eliminate root causes.

1. Brainstorm solutions.

2. Find the simplest and easiest solutions to implement.

3. Test the solutions identified.

4. Anticipate risks associated with the solutions.

5. Implement a plan.

(July 12, 2018) The Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine USS Nebraska (SSBN 739) transits the Hood Canal as it returns home Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor following the boat's first strategic patrol since 2013. Nebraska recently completed a 41-month engineered refueling overhaul, which will extend the life of the submarine for another 20 years. PACIFIC OCEAN (Jan. 18, 2020) An F/A-18E Super Hornet attached to the Pukin' Dogs of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 143 launches from the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) to return to Naval Air Station Oceania following a 10-month deployment. The Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group is deployed to the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations. With Abraham Lincoln as the flagship, deployed strike group assets include staffs and aircraft of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 12, Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 2, and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 7.
