2. Measure

DMAIC is a data-driven improvement cycle to methodically identify inefficiencies and problem areas, with the goal of improving, optimizing, or stabilizing an existing process.

Collect relevant data about the process and the problem. Measure the process to determine the current performance and quantify the problem.

1. Identify gaps in the current performance.

2. Create a baseline.

3. Check precision.

4. Establish the baseline.

PEARL HARBOR (July 9, 2018) Multinational special operations forces participate in a submarine insertion exercise with the fast-attack submarine USS Hawaii (SSN 776) and combat rubber raiding craft off the coast of Oahu, Hawaii, during Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise, July 9, 2018. Twenty-five nations, 46 ships and five submarines, about 200 aircraft, and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 27 to Aug. 2 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. PACIFIC OCEAN (Jan. 18, 2020) An F/A-18F Super Hornet attached to the "Jolly Rogers" of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 103 launches from the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) to return to Naval Air Station Oceana following a 10-month deployment. The Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group is deployed to the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations.
